Flight 191 2021 Investigation

The Ghost Research Society was the very first paranormal group to ever investigate and visit the crash site of Flight 191 in late June of 1979.

History: (see previous investigations)

Located at: near the trailer court at 320 W. Touhy Ave., Des Plaines, IL 60016

Hauntings: (see past investigations for full history of possible paranormal activity)

Equipment setup: Phasma Box, digital recorders, full-spectrum and infrared camcorders, K-II and Melmeters.

Experiments performed: A single Phasma Box session was conducted near the fence surrounding the perimeter of the crash site and K9 training facility.

A follow-up investigation was held on May 29, 2021. Team members included: Charles Williams, Ronald Lovatt, Mike Rosario and Dale Kaczmarek

Personal experiences:

Ron Lovatt: We did a evolution session and got quite a few full sentences answers and some key words like crash, burn, roll, American, and we thought we heard someone crying or in pain from the Phasma Box.  At one point Chuck’s Melmeter spiked at a very high temperature.  We are not sure if that was a fault in equipment of paranormal.  We were around 300 feet or so away from the actual crash site.

Mike Rosario: Equipment and Initial Investigation:  Our investigation at the Flight 191 Crash Site located in Des Plaines, Illinois took off at approximately 11:32am with Dale Kaczmarek, Chuck Williams, Ron Lovatt, and Mike Rosario on Saturday, May 29, 2021.  Weather was around 62°, and the wind was a bit gusty.  Equipment used was my K-II meter; a Philips VoiceTracer Digital Voice Recorder; a DVC 4K Ultra HD 48mp Night Shot Digital Video Camcorder; and an Apple iPhone 8-Plus 256GB Smartphone for exterior HD pictures and videos.

For this investigation, I was accompanied by Dale, Chuck, and Ron, and we pretty much stuck together as one group for this investigation.  I began by doing my usual K-II sweeps in and around a small corner of the crash site, a legal area for the public to be in, so that I could get a base reading, which was around 2.1-3.5 mG, but nothing went higher than those numbers throughout the investigation.  It was very calm around the area, however, there was a lot of outside contamination due to the cars passing us about every 2 seconds because of the usual Touhy Avenue traffic about 100 feet away from our station.  I took some pictures and videos in hopes of capturing some good visual and audio evidence whilst we were there at the crash site.  We pretty much did what we could, with the laws permitted, because the site itself is heavily guarded by the Chicago Police Department.

The four of us stayed for a while, and had asked some questions pertaining to the crash site in general, and who was with us in spirit form whilst we were there.  Being such a very sensitive subject to be discussing, we were very respectful and professional during our EVP sessions.  Over 270 lives were lost in seconds just a few feet from where we were standing, and we wanted to approach the site with deep reverence and veneration.  We wanted to see if those spirits (if any) who passed away there at the crash site wanted to communicate with us, and possibly pass on a message to their surviving loved ones.

Whenever there is a location where many individuals had passed away at one time, or suddenly, like a plane crash site, a battlefield site, a mass grave, or even a maritime disaster site, we strive to treat those kinds of investigations with extra respect by being mindful, honoring, and we try to say a small prayer to those who were lost.  Many feelings and emotions become exponential when at these types of locations, but respect and professionalism is our top priority when conducting all our investigations.

Evidence:  Upon reviewing all of my evidence, I did not have any visual evidence on my DVC camcorder.  However, I did receive an abundance of audio evidence from my digital voice recorder.  The following audio evidence was taken at the crash site during a Phasma Box session:

~ “Naturally” (Female voice)                                                            ~ “To the Earth”

~ “We’re not interested.”  (Female voice)                                        ~ “Let’s go!”

~ “Power!”  “Rolling (or Growing).”  “We tried.”                            ~ “American”

~ “Engine drop?”                                                                                ~ “Yeah”

~ “In the drain; we just hit the fence!”                                              ~ “I’m the Flight Engineer.”

~ “Can anyone help me?”                                                                  ~ “Airline help”

~ “Burn”                                                                                             ~ “I need oxygen.”

Charles Williams: An Impromptu stop on our way.  Couldn’t get close to the site, so I was skeptical whether any evidence would turn up.  A dead bird was spotted on the property we were on.  (Ironic)  My Mel Meter temperature probe was malfunctioning, so I immediately ordered 2 more, it was fluctuating to extremes, and wouldn’t settle on a temp.   Dale used Phasma Box, and EVP sessions.

Dale Kaczmarek: Another stop at this solemn and sad location just four days after the crash on May 25th. This location never fails to amaze me with the amount of evidence and what I believe to be intelligent responses or words that correspond exactly to what happened here so many years ago.

Some of the replies could have been residual in nature while others apparently answered specific questions posed by my fellow investigators. A lot of what we picked up seemed to directly correspond to the actual crash and events leading up to the crash; like smoking, power, rolling and even cries for help. I can only imagine what was going through the minds of those poor people in their last moments on earth!

Evidence collected:

Airline help 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, the device said what sounds like, “Airline help.”

American 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, a question was asked, “Tell me what airlines you’re flying?” The device replied with what sounds like, “American.”

Burn 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, a question was asked, “Did you burn alive?” The device said, “Burn.”

I need oxygen 191.MP4 - while conducting a Phasma Box session, a question was asked, “Any children aboard this flight?” The device said, “I need oxygen.”

In the drain we just hit the fence 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, a question was asked, “How high were you able to get up?” The device replied with, “In the drain, we just hit the fence.”

It’s so heavy 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, the device said, “It’s so heavy.” (This is really strange because when the control tower saw the airplane in distress it radioed, “American Flight 191 ‘heavy’ you wanna come back and into what runway!)

Naturally 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, a question was asked, “Is the Captain of the flight here?” The device responded with, “Naturally.”

Power rolling 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, the device said, “Power” and something that sounds like either “Growing” or “Rolling”.

Since anyone help me help me 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, the device said, “Since anyone help me”. A question was then asked, “We’re help to help. What can we do?” The same voice responded with, “Help me.”

Smoking 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, the device said, “Smoking.”

To the earth 191.MP4 – while conducting a Phasma Box session, a question was asked, “Can you tell us the destination of this aircraft? Where was it going to?” The device responds with, “To the Earth.”

What’s the ha ha 191.MP4 – while conducting an EVP session, a voice was heard to say something that sounds like, “What’s the?” It was later followed with a high-pitched female voice that laughed, “Ha ha.”

Yep I know 191.MP4 – while showing the group some photographs of the area as it looked in 1979, a voice came through the Phasma Box that said, “Yep I know.”

Conclusions: This location never fails to produce some evidence. While a lot of what was captured I believe is residual from the disaster itself, there was, in my opinion, some intelligent responses in regards to questions asked. Some words, no questions were asked, it just appears that whomever or whatever energy was present, it may still be replaying that crash over and over again which is incredibly sad.

We still weren’t able to get permission to be on the actual crash site due to the sensitivity of the area even though there are some plans to have an off-ramp go through this very large and unmarked cemetery. That will probably stir things up a bit but also its like grave desecration. I haven’t given up trying to get on the physical property and even had a Chicago Police Officer friend of mine contact the K9 facility but to no avail.

I will try again next year on the anniversary of the crash and see what happens. Perhaps with new management I may be able to secure permission. I even reached out to some family members to see if they wanted to participate in some EVP sessions and to see if their presence being family members could secure some intelligent responses. Remember, all of those who died never had the chance to reach out and say good-bye to family members. Unfortunately, none of those that I reached out to via email wanted to participate in our experiments. This could be one way of getting onto the property because family members still have access anytime they wish. Come May 25, 2022, we will return and will do some in-person requests with the K9 facility to see what happens.
